Missoni inaugurates its new flagship store in Shanghai.
The project has been curated by BBA Studio. Missoni in Shanghai introduces a new store concept conceived by the Milan-based BBA design studio.The architectural concept creates a neutral environment wherein colours and fabrics of the clothing and accessories can stand out, without ever renouncing a certain level of characteristic style and refinement in the use and choice of materials and lighting.The new flagship store already reveals its identity to the public in the storefront design: the iconic zig-zag movement that characterises Missoni fabrics is here cleverly conjured up with colours, vertical metal elements and slashes of light that create dynamic energy, like a surface in movement.
Inside the store lies a succession of walls that gently connect to each other, created partly in metal slats, partly with compressed cellulose, with the aim of creating a single continuous space across which the customer’s eye can slide without any obstacle. Around the entire perimeter, as a background detail, it is possible to identify the graphic texture of the internationally-famous knitwear which has become the key feature of Missoni style.

BBA has been appointed to design the four-storey Flagship Boutique in Ginza, Tokyo. The key element of the interior design project is the repetition of wooden listels, used to disarticulate the spaces and making their borders disappear. The intention is to recreate a environment that dissolves into its boundaries and that follows the vertical rhythm of the wooden stripes as well as the horizontal use of the light, which convey a sense of spatial immateriality. Each detail of the boutique has been throughly researched by BBA, paying great attention to materials and proportions, and has been engineered in collaboration with the Loro Piana Technical Office so to guarantee an high aesthetic value.

In 2019 BBA is appointed by MMissoni to design the new concept for its boutiques worldwide. The new concept originates from the desire to create a familar environment in which the brand values can be conveyed through design: the shapes, colors and sustainable materials of the furnitures refere to the playful character of the collections, the terrazzo floor gives a fresh image to the space. The boutique is divided into two rooms through some ribbed glass panels which, through their transparency, allow to glimpse what it is happening further on and activate curiosity.

Persol is an Italian brand with over 100 years of history. Starting by producing glasses and lenses for sportsmen and aviators, the brand reached the mass market thanks to its popularity amongst famous personalities from the world of sports and entertainment. BBA concept reaches back to the aesthetics of the 50s through the use for example of the wallpaper, but enriched with contemporary details made of painted metal and walnut wood.

BBA in collaboration with Valentino technical office designs a new architectural image for the brand’s outlets. Researching into similar materials and finishes of the boutiques and through the definition of an analogous system of furnitures, BBA has managed to obtain an excellent result optimizing costs. BBA is now applying the same concept to many other Valentino outlets worldwide.

BBA is appointed by the fashion brand Balmain to study a new image of its showroom, giving a highly parisian look. BBA proposal researches into classical materials, such as oak and stone tiles flooring, wooden cladding and boiserie, typically used in the Versailles Palace. All furnitures are made with luxury materials, such as brass, conceived with classical shapes.

BBA, in collaboration with Luxottica, designed the showroom of the brand in the Milan Headquarters. The space is divided into sectors by large LED walls that strongly communicate the identity of the different brands.

BBA is invited to design the Canali Showroom in Milan. The aim of the project is to design a space with soft and organic forms in an environment designated to host offices and thus caracterized by a strong rational aesthetic. The central body of the space is a three-dimensional wall that draws inspiration from a rolled-out fabric and which evoques the lightness of a curtain. The waves of the wooden fabric define the position of the display elements and the access doors to the service areas.

The client’s brief was to intervene philologically trying to preserve all the decorative elements and the original atmosphere of the historic apartment, through providing contemporary spaces and volumes. The original mahogany doors were recovered, restored and rebuilt.Each new element proposed by BBA has been calibrated so as to be able to fit into an existing context and has been designed with a contemporary language, harmonically balanced with the historical context.

Giuseppe Zanotti Invitation Design Contest
BBA wins the 2nd prize in the restricted competition for the development on a new concept for the brand Giuseppe Zanotti. BBA proposal is the result of a research for a new, very identifying materials palette mixed with the richness of the design of three different architectural rooms, each with its own character.

BBA is appointed by Luxottica Group to design a new concept for Sunglass Hut brand, tailor made around Harrods ground floor. The client’s request is to recreate a timeless environment with the use of luxury materials from the Italian tradition. As always, attention to details conveys a sophisticated image to the corner.

BBA is appointed by RED Valentino to design the new fagship boutique in Rome. BBA gives constant support to the technical office of Valentino on every phase of the project, from preliminary layout for new locations, to executive projects, to the proposal of new furnitures solutions according to the merchandising needs. BBA has been collaborating with Valentino Fashion Group since 2001 and since 2015 BBA has been working with India Mahdavi Concept, developing thousands of project around the world.

BBA is appointed by Missoni to implemented the concept by Patricia Urquiola, introducing flexibility to the whole furniture system: the hanging bars and shelves are mounted on electrified racks, giving the opportunity to change the merchandise display according to the needs of the different seasons. The boutique is caracterized by a new wooden decoration that resemble the iconic Missoni knit. Since 2019 BBA is collaborating with the brand on the opening of new boutiques, corners and pop-up worldwide.

In 2015 BBA was appointed by Versace to develop a new outlet concept that could translate the richness of the brand into design. Wthe concept mixes together clean lines, a modern materials palette and a taste of industrial feeling. BBA has been working closely with Versace and opened so far 18 new outlets around the world.

Sunglass Hut invitation Design Contest
BBA is invited by Luxottica to design a new concept for Sunglass Hut with the idea to translate into design its new digital systems. BBA incorporates the use of the LED walls into the furniture and display system, not only as decorative elements, but also as panels that guide the customer throught the experience in the boutique.

Valentino Winter Resort Concept
BBA in collaboration with the Valentino technical office has developed a variation of the David Chipperfield concept exclusively for the boutiques located in ski resorts. Warm colors have been applied on walls and ceilings and a selection of vintage furnishings and accessories with a purely Nordic aesthetic have been proposed, resulting in a surprising atmosphere.

The renovation has totally redesigned the spaces and volumes of this residence conceived in the late 70s. A rigorous minimalism of the shapes enlighten the internal finishes made of terrazzo floors, teak parquet and carrara marble.

BBA Studio designed the milanese Showroom for Electrolux, we worked with the aim of finding the key for the display of a mix of products. The goal was achieved with a linear design with some well calibrated highlight points.

Since 2019 BBA has been working together with Missoni to the development of a new concept outlet. The main goal is to give flexibility to the merchandise display based on the different needs of the collections. All materials have been thoroughly selected in order to be economical, though conveying a luxury feel. All the wallpaper decorations have been customized ad hoc for the new concept.

BBA project proposal for the boutique, that covers the entire floor of a historic builing, consists of a highly unusual furniture system inside a simple but sophisticated architectural box. Different materials that belong to the classical and contemporary world, such marble and the translucent polycarbonate, are mixed together and an original touch is given by the use of black and white cement tiles, as if they were rugs, to define the sales areas.

BBA worked in collaboration with the Bottega Veneta Architectural Department in order to develop a 30 meters high facade of the Flagship Boutique in Dubai, with a complex three-dimensional pattern based on the ideas of Mr. Thomas Maier. BBA provided both creative and technical support to the Bottega Veneta Team, from the preliminary studies, to the 3d visualisations, to the Architectural Detailed Design.

Piquadro Design Contest
BBA participated in the competition for the design of a new concept for the brand. BBA interpretation of the brand is focused on the connectios between technology and talian craftmanship as both elements live together in the Piquadro products. BBA project provided for a solution based on a minimalistc design mixing functionality with technology.

The client aimed to maintain the historic look of the boutique, but at the same time wanted to conceive a brand new furniture system with a more contemporary language. BBA combined luxury materials, such as Italian marble used for the cladding of the walls, with backlit onyx used for the furniture pieces and developed sophisticated details, giving the environment a timeless look.

Caractere Invitation Design Contest
BBA is invited by the Miroglio Group to participate in the restricted competition to define the new Store Concept. The request is to recreate a domestic but sophisticated atmosphere through the use of contemporary freestanding furniture elements that recall the design of vintage objects.

BBA has been collaborating with Valentino Fashion Group since 2001 and provides daily support to its technical office by developing ad hoc designs for special locations, executive projects with concepts developed by other designers, definition of new dedicated concepts, definition of furniture for new product categories. Over the years BBA has developed hundreds of projects around the world. Since 2010 BBArchitetti is working with David Chipperfield Concept.

For this multibrand boutique built on the ground floor of a newly built building in the center of Dnepropetrovks, the client’s brief was to recreate a luxury environment with modern materials. BBA through the constant research for innovative materials proposed a range of glasses with gold metal inserts and decorative textures. A wide choice of wallpapers with metallic reflections and custom designed rugs.

Symbol Boutique. In order to give an identity to an open space without particular connotations, BBA proposed to create a customized wooden ceiling as an architectural sign that defines the space. The “customer journey” unfolds below this element and it is created with the only arrangement of freestanding elements. The path ends with a lounge bar made with fine italian materials.

In 2013 Valentino appointed BBA to develop a new worldwide Outlet concept for the brand. The concept is based on a modular system that allows great flexibility during the different seasons of the year and according to the merchandise categories displayed.The materials used are economical and sustainable and are part of the continuous research that BBA studio has carried out throughout the years.
