Every stay has the potential to become an experience of wellbeing, discovery and connection with its surroundings.
Limen was conceived to give shape to this vision, transforming the hotel room into a responsive ecosystem that interprets the landscape, adapts to each guest's needs, and expresses the identity of the local area through materials, light and seamlessly integrated technology.
The word limen, from the Latin for "threshold", symbolises the transition between the outside world and a space dedicated to restoration and renewal. The room becomes a site-specific and guest-specific environment, where architecture, design and innovation work together discreetly to provide comfort, wellbeing and a deeply personalised experience.
Set in Sardinia, the project interprets the Mediterranean landscape through silence, the maestrale wind, light and native Mediterranean vegetation. Sustainability informs every design decision: locally sourced materials such as lime plaster, trachyte, juniper, bronze and linen reduce environmental impact while celebrating local craftsmanship. The architecture is light-touch and harmoniously integrated into the landscape, preserving its natural balance.
Identity emerges through materiality and becomes a narrative, transforming the space into an experience that evokes memory and a sense of belonging. The guest journey unfolds across three stages — Arrival, Stay and Rest — guiding visitors from decompression to physical and emotional regeneration.
Technological integration is discreet and intuitive: intelligent systems adapt lighting, climate, soundscapes and the spatial configuration to individual preferences without ever becoming intrusive.
Limen presents a model of hospitality founded on innovation, sustainability and design excellence, where space and technology work in harmony to enhance the human experience. More than simply a hotel room, it is a threshold between people and place — a living environment that evolves with those who inhabit it.
